This training will provide a brief history of Megan’s law’s inception and the Megan Kanka story as well as an overview of the law, tier hearing, and risk.   An overview of the law on termination motions for both Megan’s law and Community/Parole Supervision for Life will be discussed.  Further discussion of pending cases and potential modifications in the law.

 

Stefan J. Erwin, Esq.

Stefan J. Erwin, Esq. is a seasoned attorney with significant experience with Megan’s Law and Community Supervision for Life. Stefan Erwin worked as a Public Defender for nearly eight years.  He was initially assigned to the Special Hearings Unit, working exclusively on post-conviction sex offender matters. As a result, Mr. Erwin has more than a decade of experience appearing at Tier hearings and termination motions. Mr. Erwin has argued various issues of statewide importance as it applies to Megan’s law before the New Jersey Supreme Court and Appellate Division. Stefan Erwin now manages his own practice, where he continues to represent convicted sex offenders in post-conviction proceedings all across New Jersey.
