This presentation is being held virtually via Zoom,
This workshop will explore the neurological impact of trauma on juvenile clients who are presenting with sexually inappropriate behavior. Focus will be given to diversity and some of the complex barriers in responding to diverse client populations. Sociocultural factors in the response to individuals who sexually offend are important to examine. Our awareness of implicit biases and the cultural competence of the case manager are essential in ethical treatment. Counter-transference and transference considerations will be discussed and concrete interventions will be proposed. The workshop will incorporate video, case scenarios and a break out discussion.
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Learning Objective 1: Identify three neurological symptoms of trauma
Learning Objective 2: Describe how cultural differences affect attitudes and beliefs about sexually inappropriate behavior
Learning Objective 3: Describe and discuss important cultural factors for treatment and sexually inappropriate behavior
