Doctoral Lecturer & Forensic Psychology MA Program Director

    POSITION OVERVIEW
The Department of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time position (doctoral lecturer level) to begin Fall 2023. The successful
candidate will assume the leadership as Program Director of the prestigious Master of Arts (MA) in Forensic Psychology program. This program has two tracks, one that is
clinically-focused and one that is research-focused.
This is an administrative and teaching position. It is expected that the Director will focus primarily on administration, while teaching at least one class per semester in the MA
program in the candidate’s area of specialization. The candidate will be a visionary leader responsible for future development of the program aided by program staff. Day to
day administrative duties include managing both tracks, academic advising, admissions, staff supervision, adjunct faculty hiring, and course scheduling. Summer leadership
on a part-time basis is expected and is separately compensated. The position of Doctoral Lecturer is tenure-bearing through what CUNY refers to as “certificate of continuous
employment” (CCE) after the sixth annual reappointment.
The successful candidate should ideally be a licensed psychologist at the doctoral level, is interested in a career in higher education administration, and comes with
administrative and clinical experience. Knowledge of the APA efforts towards licensure at the MA level would be beneficial. There is no expectation of research or publication
although knowledge of research is helpful. While the program is forensic, the candidate need not be forensically trained but must have interest in forensic and social justice
issues. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the diversity mission of the college through their leadership, community service, research,
    and/or lived experiences.
The successful candidate must be a strong team player and eager and qualified to work with our diverse student body and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity,
equity, and inclusion. The College seeks a faculty member who thrives in a multicultural, collaborative academic environment and is committed to both access and
excellence in higher education. Such critical perspectives reflect our College’s seven principles for a Culturally Responsive, Inclusive and Anti-Racist Curriculum
    (http://www.jjay.cuny.edu/sites/default/files/u1862/principles_for_a_culturally_responsive_inclusive_and_antiracist_curriculum_adopted_by_college_council_april8_2021.pdf).
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this
requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an
authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable
    distance to their campus.
